Nike Continue the ‘Kentucky’ Theme On This Air Force 1 Mid

A white-and-blue 'Kentucky'-style colour scheme may be most associated with the and but are not averse to applying it to other popular NSW models as well, the latest of which to receive a Bluegrass State-style colourway is the . Kentucky was one of the first collegiate athletic programs to get down with the Swoosh, as former men's basketball head coach Eddie Sutton helped UK become a Nike school in the mid-1980s (ironically, after Sutton left UK in 1989 he took a PR job at Nike). The is one of Nike's most memorable hoops shoes from that decade. Though the two may not have been directly intertwined, the crossover makes sense!
Classic blue and white 'Kentucky' colour-blocking is used across this mid-cut Air Force 1's upper, split only by soft lilac laces. Though these laces may appear random, they're actually a detail that's sure to make Instagram archive pages go crazy: blue laces on some vintage Nike hoop shoes from the 1980s fade to this colour, so they're a nod to eras past. Besides the laces, other details include similarly-coloured insoles, a grey plastic lace dubrae and a debossed Swoosh on the collar strap's anchor.
