Nike Air Griffey Max 1 (Vote For Griffey)
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ken Griffey Junior’s signature shoe – the – are releasing the ‘Vote for Griffey’ colourway. The patriotic palette references the Swoosh’s ‘Griffey in 96’ advertising campaign. We like to imagine Nike is having a tongue in cheek swipe at the absurdity of electing public figures into political office, but let’s not mix sneakers and politics here.
The upper of the shoe has been built from blue suede, accented with golden thread and then tied up with dark red laces – giving the piece regal feel. With red and blue taken care of – the white comes courtesy of the midsole. There's a touch of blue and a subtle hit of red visible through the air unit, as well as a few stars and stripes on the heel tab. We’re going to assume the oval office has a dress code that doesn’t allow for baseball shoes – but in this case they might just make an exception.
No info on the drop is available just now, we’ll keep you posted.
