Nike Reissue the Air Huarache in ‘Metro Blue’ Once More
Despite there being plenty of back in the market following its 30th anniversary, the brand sees fit to recall some previously released editions for another run. Following the return of early-2000s colourways like the , hot on its heels is the ‘Metro Blue’ that also first emerged in the same era.
Nike’s track record for producing accurate retros is a little patchy, but they’ve returned to form with the Air Huarache. Among its improvements are the sharper silhouette, softer materials and minute details accurately recreated. For the ‘Metro Blue’ the two-toned blue colour-blocking returns, and the shades look pretty close to the first release. The Swoosh have even used the correct circular Huarache logo used from 1992 onwards. The heel strap is a complementary shade of blue, and its redesign should mean it won’t snap prematurely. Other noteworthy elements include the deeper cutouts on the forefoot flex zones, and the hollowed-out grooves on the outsole – while part of the design’s minutia, it’s something sneaker nerds have been waiting over 30 years to see again. The last detail these Huas need is the 2000s era two-tone box.
The Nike Air Huarache ‘Metro Blue’ reissue will land on June 9 via SNKRS.
