Meet the Mowabb-Inspired Nike Air Huarache Again

Nike’s predilection for archival digging reaches new depths with the imminent return of this particular Air Huarache that borrows its palette from the famous ACG Air Mowabb. This theme was actually first explored back in 2007 via a Hua three-pack that drew on its 1991 sibling’s OG colourways. 15 years later, the most recognisable pair makes a comeback this month.

To the Swoosh’s credit, they haven’t just taken the easy route and simply reissued a one-for-one remake of the previous drop. The Huarache has changed considerably over the years, with the most significant updates coming last year for its 30th anniversary. This updated silhouette in accordance with 1991 specifications gives Nike reason to tweak the Mowabb theme accordingly too. Subtle details include a sharper toebox that introduces slightly larger perforations; more overt modifications are applied to the midsole, whereby the white and black speckled finish is inverted from the 07’s dark grey and white mix. Beyond that, these Huas perfectly portray the bandaid-coloured tan leather upper, mixed in with blue and orange neoprene stretch booties to complete the execution.
