Nike Air Maxes and football clubs have a long-standing relationship, as a select few have gotten their own colourways of select Air Maxes throughout the years. The Urawa Dragons, now the Urawa Red Diamonds, got their own Nike Air Max 1 back in 2004, inspired by their home kit. Now in 2023, the Urawa Red Diamonds run it back on the Air Max 1, this time taking from their away kit.

Black mesh makes up the base, with grey and white leather overlays placed throughout. The Swoosh is seen in white, with a pop of contrast on the red eyelets and gold Nike Air Max branding on the tongue tag. A dragon logo is stitched on the heel like the 2004 pair – this time in grey – with the logo also appearing on the heel of the insole. The white and grey look continues down into the midsole and outsole, with a visible Air Max unit in the heel finishing off the sneaker.

The Nike Air Max 1 ‘Urawa’ is expected to drop on September 1, 2023, via Nike’s channels and at select retailers for $160. Keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.

Speaking of football clubs getting their own Air Maxes, Inter Milan bring their iconic black and blue stripes to the Nike Air Max 97.
