Nike Air Max 96 Xx (2016 Retro)
UPDATE: We've been waiting 20 years for this day to arrive, but at long last the Air Max 96 is finally ready to make its return to shelves. The sole unit has been switched out for an unit, but we still welcome this long-lost Max runner back into our lives with open arms nonetheless. As a result of this change however, the model has received an 'XX' suffix and is officially dubbed as the Air Max 96 XX.
Both the 'Scream Green' and 'Dark Concord' colourways of the Air Max 96 XX will be available from August 19 through the SNKRS page over at , as well as select Nike Sportswear stockists.
never miss an important milestone, and now it looks like they are finally re-releasing the cult classic Air Max 96 for its 20th anniversary. The 96 was designed by Sergio Lozano, who most notably created the a year prior, with inspiration from the flowing waves of the ocean. The shoe utilises the same base Air unit as the 95, with multiple compartments and varied PSI grades, but has been tweaked slightly to provide better support.
The upcoming retro looks to be dropping in two of the OG colourways – ‘Black/Dark Concord’ and ‘White/Obsidian/Scream Green’ – both of which feature the characteristic row of mesh panels along the side, as well as 3M detailing. Although this release and the from earlier in the year are far from perfect – purists may have issues with the size of the Air bubbles and the subtleties of the midsole and silhouette – we're happy Nike are finally listening to what heads have been asking for all these years! Hopefully they'll improve the details in future versions.
No official release info just yet, we’ll let you know as soon as we find out more.
