Nike Air Max 98 'Chinese New Year' Has Some Serious Details

Not all ‘Chinese New Year’ releases are created equal, and this  exemplifies just that with its creative detailing and material combinations.

Part of the celebratory ‘Year of The Pig’ pack, this AM98 is anything but minimal, constructed with an array of colours, patterns and textiles. The obligatory red and gold shades are there, with teal added to the mix for fresh appeal. Six different materials, including snakeskin and patent leather, all draw from past CNY collections, with a hairy middle overlay perhaps the most unique of the bunch.

There’s something gnarly everywhere you look on this sneaker — even on the bottom of the outsole, where a special prayer motif rounds out this special drop.

No official release info from Beaverton just yet, but you can expect ‘em to hit Nike.com in the coming weeks.
