Boot Up for Cold Weather in the Nike Air Max Goadome
The is a wintertime staple in the coldest street corners around the world. While it’s been an essential piece of footwear over in DC and Baltimore, the model’s profile has grown globally in recent years, thanks to releases like the that came out this time last year. For those new to these towering sneakerboots, this new general release is a pretty good place to start.
The Air Max Goadome was originally designed in the late 1990s by designer Carl Blakeslee, who was tasked with developing a boot that could compete with the ‘wheat boot’ that engulfed the urban market at the time. While ACG in origin and heritage – preserved in modern releases via the ACG branding on the midsole and heel – the model was definitely made for street use. It just so happened that functional materials and tech made for mountains also worked pretty well on the sidewalk: weather-resistant leather uppers, thick Air-cushioned midsoles and cleated gum rubber tread are just three features that make the Goadome very effective against the cold.
This colourway sticks to the model’s usual all-black finish, but adds a contrasting brown corduroy ankle collar, lining and also the aforementioned gum sole. It’s available now from BSTN and directly from Nike.
