US Release: Nike Air Trainer 1 ‘Midnight Navy’

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Nike Air Trainer 1’s debut, and the Swoosh is continuing the revival of the all-round model with haste, by bringing back the OG ‘Midnight Navy’ combination. This addition rounds out an eclectic selection of AT1 colourways on the market right now, which have ranged from high-profile collaborations to interesting GRs and, of course, the legendary ‘Chlorophyll’ original.

Tinker Hatfield’s memorable 1987 design is arguably at its best when presented in its catalogue and period correct colours. While some shoes of the era were presented with plainer colours, the ‘Midnight Navy’ is a rather bold pair. Its namesake shade highlights the leather forefoot and Swoosh, plus the rubber strap. Juxtaposed against these accents are alternating panels of white leather and brushed nubuck, just like the originals. An additional orange-red colour appears on the top double eyelet hardware and Nike branding throughout the heel and tongue; the latter panel completes the textural trio with some padded nylon.

Having already released around the rest of the world, the US will finally see the Air Trainer 1 ‘Midnight Navy’ directly from Nike on July 16. International buyers can catch up via regional retailers including Overkill and END.
