Nike Issue Classic ‘Bred’ Colourway on the Kyrie 7
signature sneaker series with has now reached its seventh generation, so it’s only appropriate the new receives a classic basketball colourway from the Swoosh’s vaults. And it doesn’t get more iconic than the black and red ‘Bred’. However, some of the new design cues may not be immediately spotted because of the tonal colourway. Here’s what’s changed beneath the surface.
Beyond the palette, the Kyrie 7 is an incremental update to the Kyrie 6, whose design was broken down in depth by SF’s interview by Nike designer Ben Nethongkome . There are a lot of carryover features, namely the ankle height that sits somewhere between a high- and mid-cut, Air Zoom Turbo in the forefoot, and hidden references dispersed throughout the design. It’s not a new signature without some improvements though: there’s no more forefoot strap, the overall design is lighter, and the tread pattern has been fine-tuned.
As for the colourway, almost everything is black, but the red is well-placed. Key highlights include the aforementioned Air Zoom Turbo pod, Kyrie’s signature on the heel, medial Swoosh branding, and outsole logos.
The Nike Kyrie 7 will release via Nike and selected basketball and sports retailers on December 15.
