and will be looking for a clean bill of health with the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2024-25 NBA season. Despite missing swathes of games due to injury and suspension, the high-flying 25-year-old still has the Nike partnership on the table after signing a multi-year endorsement deal with Nike in 2019 (shortly after being drafted the second overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies). Since then, Nike officially launched the in 2023, making him the youngest player in history to receive a signature shoe from Team Swoosh.

Scheduled to launch later this year, fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of Morant’s second signature sneaker, the Ja 2. The latest colourway to surface is a hair-raising ‘Nightmare’ release specifically for Halloween, with the red and black palette replete with spooky detailing. Over on the heels, ghoulish embroidered hands reach out towards a cat eye – a classic motif in the horror vernacular. There’s also customised, dog teeth-like lace dubraes spelling Morant’s name and embossed claw marks along the lateral sides. In terms of materials, it looks like velvet is pasted onto the tongues and overlays, giving the Halloween release a premium feel. As with Morant’s previous designs, there’s also plenty of familial details, including the names of his family on the midsoles and personal motifs on the outsoles.

The Nike Ja 2 ‘Nightmare’ will launch on October 25, 2024. For more on the NBA, make sure to James Harden’s latest Vol. 8 with adidas.
