With the renewed deal between the estate and , more signature Kobe sneakers with the Swoosh are on the way. Following the colourway that dropped not too long ago, Nike are bringing back the form, expected to drop later this summer.
The Nike Kobe 8 originally dropped in the 2012-2013 NBA season and built upon the Kobe System, which made the sneaker more modular as different drop-in insoles can be used with different cushioning setups. The engineered mesh upper brought a variety of different patterns and prints, but this Protro colourway keeps it simple in a ‘Triple White’ colourway. Fuse overlays are placed in high-wear areas, such as around the toe, with the Swoosh embroidered into the upper. The Shozoku logo is stitched on the tongue and printed on the heel, with an external heel counter placed on top.
It’s still unknown whether or not the upcoming Protro sneaker is utilising the Kobe System for cushioning or going with a more modern setup, but expect either React and/or Zoom to be used for impact protection. Lastly, the dual-patterned outsole features a herringbone and a snake scale-like pattern to finish off the sneaker.
The Nike Kobe 8 Protro ‘Triple White’ is expected to drop later this summer, rumoured to be on August 24 for Kobe Bryant Day via Nike’s channels. Keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates on a confirmed drop date.
