Nike Announce the LeBron 20, ‘Built For the Next Generation’
have officially announced the LeBron 20, the latest signature sneaker of . Coinciding with his 20th year with the Swoosh and also as a professional NBA player, this new model introduces some firsts for the series while also recalling established ideas.
This is the first LeBron signature to debut as a low-cut, which is quite a dramatic change from previous models. The lower profile means the cushioning systems have been tweaked to suit, opting for slimmer options like Air Zoom Turbo forefoot and Zoom Air heel pad. This heavy shedding almost means the LeBron 20 is the lightest model yet in the series.
Some proven concepts are reprised from previous offerings. Nike Sphere lining from the 2003 Air Zoom Generation and a carbon fibre shank used in the 2005 LeBron 5 are just two heritage bring-backs on the LeBron 20.
Most importantly, the new shoe is, in James’ own words, ‘Built For the Next Generation’, that is, his sons Bronny and Bryce.
‘We wanted to get in their heads and learn about what young players were looking for,’ says Jason Petrie, who has been designing James’ signature shoes since the LeBron 7.
The Nike LeBron 20 will be available from September 29, with more colourways arriving later this year.
