Run by Drew Henderson, the shop is a monument to its Chicago community, and echoes Nike’s grassroots values. References to the trade are plentiful. Outsoles are chequered like a traditional barbershop floor, waxed laces protect from falling hairs, the tongue has a white collar like the tissue paper wrapped under a barber bib, the heel tab is covered in pony hair, and Chicago’s skyline is on the insole and tongue branding.
The pair is part of Nike’s ALL FOR 1 series, which will see shoes designed by key community players. You can find pairs at select Nike stores on December 7.
