Nike Retro the OG Daybreak

Hot on the heels of the lauded collaborations,  are bringing back the runner in its original, unadulterated form.

Seen here in a period-correct nylon and suede makeup, the two-tone grey colour-blocking makes way for a very tasteful purple Swoosh to serve as the key branding callout. Below is a white foam wedge midsole, and Nike’s iconic waffle tread outsole in black.

Nike have even gone the distance and sourced accurate coarsely-woven shoelaces to complete the time-capsule fresh look.

Here’s one for the sneaker nerds: these last appeared in 2007, albeit with some unwanted pre-vintage yellow smearing on the midsole. It will be interesting to see the Daybreak’s reception sans collaborative soapbox.
