Known throughout the sneaker industry as producing some of the freshest colourways of all time, the team at Nike SB certainly know a thing or two about virality. From the year-defining Panda Dunks in 2021 to more elusive grails like the ‘Freddy Krueger’ SB Dunks, the archive is, frankly, immense. While Nike SB have certainly pumped the brakes on the new releases, there’s still bound to be a few more colourways trickling in over the coming months.

The latest in-line release looks like it’s adopted the Joker’s classic purple and green ‘fit, recalling a legendary unreleased Joker Nike SB Dunk sample of 2009. In terms of materials, the SB Dunk is ostensibly utilising a purple canvas base, with a green suede Swoosh breaking up the design. Orange and purple laces imbue the colourway with further eccentricity, while discoloured midsoles perhaps allude to the skin beneath the haphazardly applied white makeup (at least in Heath Ledger’s Oscar-award winning rendition).

While not an ‘official’ collaboration with DC (in fact, Nike have never collaborated with DC), SB Dunks have made a routine of sly references in their legendary colourways – some notable releases include the ‘Freddy’ and 'Heineken’, both of which notoriously incited legal action.

No official release details as yet, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.

In the meantime, why not check out the all-time greatest releases from the Nike SB Striped Box era! (content warning: there’s a lot).
