Nike Serve up the Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’ Retro
A legend of series, the ‘Bacon’ still has sneakerheads salivating all these years later. Originally launching in 2004, the AM90 ‘Bacon’ was produced with the now-closed NYC sneaker boutique Dave’s Quality Meat.
The story behind the design now belongs to sneaker folklore.
Rushing to nail his deadline, Dave Ortiz (owner of Dave’s Quality Meat), found himself starving. He walked to his local bodega to order a NYC staple: bacon, egg and cheese. ‘Everybody loves bacon’ he figured, so everybody will love the Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’.
Turns out he was right. The OG Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’ still circulates the resale market for four figures.
Scheduled for Air Max Day in 2021, this retro release marks the first time the AM90 Bacon has returned since its original release. Composed in red, pink and ‘Sail’, the Air Max 90 of course takes aesthetic cues from streaks of pork belly.
Look for the Nike Air Max 90 ‘Bacon’ to release on March 26. The retail price is locked at $140.
