Nike Bring Back the Shox BB4 for Vince Carter
Back in 2000, — already known for his high-flying acrobatics — joined the Swoosh ahead of the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney, where 'Vinsanity' would go on to pull off one of the most iconic posterisations in the history of basketball: the instant-classic leap-frogging 'Dunk of Death' over French center Frédéric Weis. And on his feet at the time? A brand new pair of Shox BB4s.
'The success of the dunk started the legend of the shoes. But I myself went to another level with them, too. I became a star player in the BB4,' says Carter.
Now, 18 years later, Vinsanity and are looking to recapture a little of that magic as the Swoosh resurrects the Eric Avar design for the current Atlanta Hawk. True to the original, the new designs feature the booster-like Shox unit as their centrepiece and sport a leather upper inspired by space suits. The new PEs now also sport Carter's Nike logo on the inside of the tongue, along with the names of his kids.
Stay tuned for any news of a possible Shox BB4 re-release and, for now, check out Vinsanity's PEs above.
