Nike to Drop Qixi Festival Cortez Pack
The Qixi Festival is essentially China’s version of Valentine’s Day so, in honour of this year’s annual celebration, have crafted a special his and hers pack.
The Swoosh’s creations take cues from Chinese mythology’s meeting of the cowherd (Niulang) and the weaver girl (Zhinü), a fable that serves as the basis for the festival. Both pairs are marked by gradient uppers — nighttime-inspired blue-to-black for the men’s pair, daytime orange-to-red for women — as well as starry sky graphics and glow-in-the-dark constellations.
Inspirational ‘Today Is The Day’ text flanks the Swoosh branding on each tongue and also unites the pairs via their translucent outsoles: ‘Today Is’ appears on the women’s pair while the men’s pair completes the phrase.
Expect the Qixi Cortezes to drop as a Chinese exclusive to coincide with the festival on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar: August 17.
