Blast-Off! Foot Locker Launch the Interstellar Nike Tuned ‘Nep-Tuned’
Last week, wheeled out their telescope to give a first glimpse at planet ‘Nep-Tuned’, a brand new region-exclusive colourway inspired by Neptune. The interstellar silhouette is now ready for blast-off with the icy pair launching at Foot Locker today.
Another cosmic model in Foot Locker’s vast constellation, the latest addition to the Tuned archive travels to the deep outer regions of our solar system. Unearthing a palette of frosty blues, the ‘Nep-Tuned’ is rendered in a subtle white/blue gradient along the mesh uppers, and the iconic TPU cages is done up in interplanetary black and blue. Space age metallic additions – no doubt an allusion to spacecrafts – give the colourway even more altitude, appearing on the Nike Air tongue branding and lateral Swooshes. In the engine room down below, the breaching mid-foot shank (aka ‘whale tail’) is highlighted in white and blue.
Of course, the latest Nep-Tuned doesn’t exist in a cosmic vacuum. All of Sean McDowell’s legendary design DNA is present, including the starry-eyed Tuned Air technology (emblematic of Nike’s experimental vision in the late 1990s) and varicose TPU cages famously inspired by Florida’s palm trees.
