The Cosmic Nike Tuned ‘Nep-Tuned’ is Orbiting Foot Locker
The holds a consecrated space in sneaker culture Down Under. Erupting in the rave caves of Sydney and Melbourne over the millennium, the stomping silhouette has grown to become a stylistic lynchpin across the sunburnt country, with providing a vault of coveted Aussie-exclusive colourways.
For the latest Tuned region-exclusive, Foot Locker are travelling to the farthest known planet in the solar system: Neptune. Named after the Roman God of the Sea, Neptune is of course known for its dense, icy materials.
Appropriately dubbed the ‘Nep-Tuned’, the interstellar rendition installs a subtle white/blue gradient across the mesh uppers, in this way reminiscent of other classics like the ‘Ashanti’. The cage-like TPU ‘veins’ this time transition from black to deep space blue, while Nike’s classic iconography is rendered in metallic silver – no doubt an allusion to space travel. Down below, the legendary ‘whale tail’ is emblazoned in a distinct white and blue gradient.
Replete with all of Sean McDowell’s era-defining design DNA, you don’t have to wait long for the space-age colourway (thankfully, as one year on Neptune is equivalent to approximately 164.81 earth years). The model is expected to arrive at Foot Locker over the coming weeks.
