While 3D-printed sneakers are nothing new, they are stepping further into the zeitgeist. Over the past few months alone we’ve seen reveal their and present PUMA , and now the Swoosh are set to reveal their latest silhouette in partnership with : the .

Signalling a new expression of Nike’s legendary Air Max tech, the AM1000 is a futuristic reimagination of the , the -designed behemoth that changed the sneaker scene forever. The AM1’s DNA is still visible, as it boasts a similar silhouette yet deviates with a uniquely structured shape in place of the model’s usual leather mudguard. A customary Air Unit is embedded into the heel, while programmed cut-outs arrive in the form of mini Swooshes on the sidewalls. The printed texture even mimics mesh – a nice call back to its OG form.

Speaking on the new model's design, Nike’s Chief Innovation Officer John Hoke said: ‘As an innovator, what's most exciting to me about the Air Max 1000 are the new solutions we can achieve with next-level manufacturing. It's control, times precision, times expression — all of which are vital to sport and to design. When those variables of control, precision and expression are multiplied at once, the future of our product really does feel unlimited.’

Though there’s not exactly a shortage of modern-day , it's certainly interesting to see the AM1 come to life through a brand-new lens. The model will be launching exclusively at ComplexCon in Las Vegas this weekend, but it's unclear whether the model will be more widely available. Stay tuned for more release info as it comes in and find out more about Zellerfeld’s process .
