The Nike Zoom Vapor AJ3 Returns in ‘Racer Blue’

Tennis shoes once peaked as some of the most desirable footwear around. This was particularly the case in the 1970s and 1980s, but a modern renaissance has been slowly brewing, too. The Zoom Vapor AJ3 was at the fore(hand) of the hype world, reaching the tennis court in the 2010s largely thanks to its merger of elements from the iconic . In a likely attempt to rekindle that flame, this year will see the imminent arrival of the new ‘Racer Blue’ edition.
Presenting itself as the first Zoom Vapor AJ3 since 2017, this colourway relaunches the hybrid-ish model with a noticeable omission: the RF logo. The model was formerly the signature of game great , who has since moved on and retained his trademark. Besides that, this shoe is more or less identical to previous releases, albeit in a new colourway.
The white leather uppers and grey elephant print channel OG AJ3 colours, while the namesake ‘Racer Blue’ slots in seamlessly. While all-leather uppers aren’t conducive to adequate ventilation on-court, the Zoom Air cushioning and herringbone tread should prove reliable for impromptu matches.
The Zoom Vapor AJ3 ‘Racer Blue’ is currently slated for an April 17 release from Nike retailers.
