Odell Beckham Jr. Kicks Back and Releases an AF-1
Since being drafted to the New York Giants as the NFL's first round pick back in 2014, Odell Beckham Jr. has put in some serious work for NYC. And, despite being out for the rest of this year due to an ankle fracture, Odell hasn't stopped grinding for the Big Apple.
Reports were circulating in May that Beckham had received the most lucrative NFL shoe sponsorship deal in history. Now that's he's been forced off the field, the fashion-forward wide receiver has released his first ever lifestyle shoe. Tackling the Mid, OBJ's initial foray into the lifestyle market reflects the injured player's reluctantly relaxed new way of life.
If the yellow of this colour-blocked model didn't make it obvious, OBJ found his AF-1 inspiration in a New York taxicab. Apparently Beckham was blown away by the bright colours of the taxis when he first relocated from Louisiana for the bustling Big Apple.
The rest of the SF AF-1 reads like a condensed version of OBJ's autobiography: one strap details the latitude and longitude of his birth city Baton Rouge, while the other strap shows Beckham's markers on his NYC home field, Metlife Stadium. In a merging of two giants, OBJ's initials take their rightful place alongside the tongue's Swoosh.
Get ready to catch these sneakers, they'll touch down in a few days.
