Official Images: Air Jordan 1 Element GORE-TEX 'Black Grey'
Ever worried about tarnishing the supple leather on your s by taking them out on a rainy day? You'll be glad to know the addresses that age-old sneakerhead conundrum. A materially modified, lined take on 's first signature sneaker, the Air Jordan 1 Element GORE-TEX is set to roll out before the end of the year and official images of its 'Black/Grey' colourway recently popped up.
While its last and overall shape are largely unchanged from the original AJ 1, the materials used are vastly different. Uppers combine suede and ripstop panelling for a more hard-wearing build than the original leather styles, and the midfoot Swoosh is printed instead of stitched. From a colour standpoint, the 'Black/Grey' combines its two signature shades with a rich forest green and just a pinch of red on the tongue's text-filled tag. This entire assemblage is lined with a GORE-TEX membrane, which is acknowledged by a debossed hit on the lateral heel. Curiously, the outsoles feature a mixture of white and black that almost looks like cow print.
Jordan Brand is no stranger to 'winterising' models when the chilly seasons approach in the US. Years past have seen weatherproofed takes on the , , and even the . However, this is the first time that GORE-TEX has appeared on a flagship Air Jordan model.
If you want to go for GORE on your Air Jordan 1, you'll be able to do so when the 'Black/Grey' releases on November 23. Retail is set at $200 to allot for the shoe's upgraded construction.
