One Block Down Honour the Vans Slip-On Legacy In 'Dog Days' Collaboration
have been known to create some super slick sneaker collaborations, and their latest co-created drop comes with none other than . Titled 'Dog Days', the collection celebrates the iconic shoe, and in particular, the world famous checkerboard upper that once belonged solely to the surfer-meets-skateboarder subculture.
As the story goes, the Vans Slip-On would be disseminated to the rest of the world, becoming as ubiquitous on today's streets, as they were (and still are!) in Southern California in the 70s.
Bringing their own unique flair to the silhouette, the collection features a trio of hand-beaded pairs, each having taken 10 hours of work to create, all resulting in a precisely crafted, two-toned finish. There's a yellow and black pair known as ‘Caution’, a red and ivory iteration called ‘Bonfire’, as well as a green and ivory style, ‘Grass’. Each honours the legacy of the original pattern and its DIY origins, hence why each pair has been hand-customised. As such, numbers are highly limited, to just 107 pairs.
The One Block Down x Vans 'Dog Days' collection will become available to shop via the One Block Down web store on July 29, 9am CET. In the meantime, check out a teaser video for the colab below!
