Onitsuka Tiger Release Wonderfully Weird Runner Sandals
Japan’s have gone totally left field with their latest footwear concoction: the Big Logo Runner Sandal. A Frankenstein’s Monster cross between 1980s ‘Jelly’ sandals and modern deconstructed sneakers, this is certainly an eyeful.
As the name suggests, enlarged Tiger Stripes form a major part of the upper, with the vertical sections doubling as lace loops. A choice of suede or mesh vamps cover the toes – clog style – and the cored-out rear end leaves the heel counter to lock the foot down. The ripple rubber outsole is pretty crazy too.
Three colours are available now from – the pick of the bunch is the Tai-Chi-esque yellow and black pair. If Game of Death was set in Havana… Bruce Lee would be wearing them.
