P.J. Tucker Plays in Off-White AJ1s: Is He Winning the NBA Shoe Game?
In Sunday's Lakers and Rockets match-up, we found it wasn't the game that we were most excited about. While the likes of , Jordan Clarkson and Lance Stephenson have already tested out the x on court, Sunday saw Houston's P.J. Tucker be the first player to take to the hardwood.
While Tucker only wore the pair for the first half of the game, he threw up a neat 11 points in the year's most coveted kicks. Tucker also wore the Off-White Hyperdunk in a game earlier this year. In neither instance did P.J. take off the zip-ties that famously adorn each model of The Ten. This is a pretty bold move for a 32-year-old NBA veteran: even younger players like Draymond have ditched the zip-ties in pre-game for fear of tripping and busting their ankles.
However, Tucker seems to care more about heat than the health of his feet. After all, the Air Jordan 1's 1985 tech probably doesn't provide the best support for an ageing player. But, as Tucker's latest Off-White outing reminded us, he has one of the best and most consistent sneaker games in the league.
This year, Tucker was balling in retro of the 1994 . He also has a penchant for playing in Nike Air .
Check out the above pic of Tucker playing in the Air Yeezy 1 'Zen Grey' back in 2015. He scored 11 points in these, too. It looks like this heat keeps Tucker playing a pretty consistent rate!
Tucker evidently isn't scared to get down and dirty with whatever hyped sneakers Nike pass his way. Click through our gallery to see some of P.J.'s finest sneaker moments – he's even tried out the Air Yeezy 2 'Red October' on court.
As we're left reflecting on Tucker's unparalleled shoe game, the player remains committed to constantly upping the sneaker stakes. Just a few weeks ago, he posted this tantalising teaser to the 'gram:
Does Tucker have the league's hottest sneaker rotation? He's got to be close to the top of the ladder, that's for sure.
