Palace and Vans Are Growin' Mushrooms on Their New Sk8-Hi Colab
After featuring 'Employee of the Month' Jeremy the Duck on a special set of , and are back with fungi-focused takes on the . A seminal silhouette with 'not mushroom for improvement' (likely according to Palace co-founder Lev Tanju, who still writes most of the brand's product descriptions), the Sk8-Hi has been given a trio of mushroom graphic-equipped makeovers in blue, yellow and marshmallow.
Each pair features repeating Palace mushroom wordmarks on its quarter panels and collars, a graphic first debuted on the ' from the brand's winter 2021 collection. These embellishments are split with familiar Jazz stripes and bordered by classic suede toeboxes/eyestays, while a co-branded Palace/Vans graphic can be seen on the tongue.
In true Palace fashion, the shoes are accompanied by a humourous campaign video that shows skate team members Danny Brady and Rory Milanes working in a mushroom-growing laboratory placed in the deep, dark depths of a Soho basement. Over the course of the 45-second clip, the two manage to grow the 'perfect' sneaker style.
Look for the Palace x Vans Sk8-Hi mushroom collection to roll out on the Palace webstore and the brand's flagship retail locations in the US and Europe come November 5. Japan will have to wait an extra day, with Palace Japan and Palace's WeChat store receiving stock of the colab on November 6.
