The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Pure Platinum’ Has an Official Release Date

Update August 24, 2022: An official release date has been confirmed for the white Patta x Nike Air Max 1! The colourway name has also been locked in as ‘Pure Platinum’. To announce the news, Patta have shared campaign imagery photographed by Shaniqwa Jarvis. Elaborating on their inspiration, they‘ve stated that ‘The Next Wave’ is inspired by an African proverb, ‘Each One Teach One’, along with their ongoing vision to create a globally connected and prosperous Patta community.

'The Next Wave' campaign has been distilled through the lens of US-based photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis who captured several creatives who have been empowered through generational exchanges of ideas, stories, and skills. They include New York-based grill maker Eddie Plein and illustrator Aya Brown, South African DJ DBNGogo, as well South African entrepreneur Wireless G.

The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 'Wave' pack was one of the biggest moments of 2021. With staggered drops throughout the year, it seemed like nearly every sneakerhead was trying to get their hands on a pair.

It was towards the second half of 2021 when first looks at the 'Monarch' and the 'Noise Aqua' began conjuring up a hype storm of epic proportions. Patta and Nike followed up with the release of the 'Rush Maroon' and a black iteration that closed out the year.

As it turns out, there was more where that came from! This year has seen the 'The Next Wave' arrive, along with early looks at a white pair – as worn by Patta co-founder Edson Sabajo. Since confirming their existence, official images were released, plus a style code has recently surfaced. With all systems go, topping it off are the latest posts made via the official Patta Instagram account, announcing 'The Next Wave' party at Amsterdam's Parallel nightclub on August 26. This latest crisp, white colourway is also rumoured to release on that date.

Official confirmation is yet to come through from both Nike and Patta, but stay locked to SF for the updates.
