sizeable collaborative sneaker portfolio is growing by one with the addition of the Humanrace Sichona in ‘Black’. This murky colourway is a dark departure from the brighter edition that released a couple of months ago. The Sichona model was first released via Williams’ Humanrace self care label, but the presence of these adidas e-comm pics suggests the style will be going wide.
Of the various adidas sneakers co-signed by Williams, the Sichona is the most ergonomic. Reportedly deriving its name from the Native American Dakota people’s language, the term translates to ‘barefoot’, which explains the form-fitting design. Primeknit uppers are a consistent element of this ethos, which is rendered here in an ankle hugging mid-cut, but the instep weave is much wider to aid with breathability. Underfoot, the simultaneously sculpted and bulbous midsoles are reminiscent of adidas’ millennial ‘Feet You Wear’ series, but the only performance consideration here is comfort. A closer eye on the tread reveals ‘Humanrace’ text forming the thread with alternating embossing and debossing. All of these details, save for pink branding and a silver tongue tab, are hidden throughout a blacked-out colourway.
The Pharrell x adidas Humanrace Sicohina in black is expected to release in the near future.
