Pharrell and adidas Revisit the Superstar Primeknit
Legendary producer and musician has been on for a number of years now, and his endorsement deal has spawned plenty of unique sneaker collaborations. Highlights have included the , Tennis Hu, and the massive ‘Supercolour’ pack, of which the latter silhouette is getting a update for this new release.
In fact, this is not the first time the 50-year-old Superstar has undergone some weight loss with the woven Primeknit material. The experiments date back as far as 2015, even drafting in BOOST midsoles at the time to make the Superstar the most futuristic it’d ever been. In 2021, adi tone things back a little bit on the tech front, but still go to town with Primeknit.
The entirety of these Superstar uppers are made of Primeknit, right down to the iconic shell toe that’s usually rubber. This material swap softens the silhouette of the Superstar, in turn making it look sleeker and more form fitting than the firm leather OG. Which tends to be the case with Pharrell’s adi efforts that often opt for ergonomic fits and shapes.
However, the usage of regular rubber cupsoles both provide some needed structure and reverence to the original Superstar configuration. Of course, Pharrell leaves his mark with Humanrace branding and reflexology chart insoles.
The Pharrell x adidas Superstar Primeknit releases on April 9.
