The Pharrell x adidas Humanrace Sichona ‘Burgundy’ Sees a Wider Release
is about to grow his sizeable sneaker collaboration catalogue by one with the imminent release of the Humanrace Sichona in ‘Burgundy’. This new model is being initially released through his Humanrace label, which is perhaps better known for creating the skin care products that have given Williams his ageless glow.
The term ‘Sichona’ is reportedly inspired by the Native American Dakota people’s language, translating to ‘barefoot’, a feeling Williams aims to replicate with this adidas shoe.
‘I chased the experience I remember feeling as a kid when I walked barefoot on grass, sand and rocks. Feeling the texture, the temperature, the moisture... that primal sense of freedom was a north star objective with this project’, says Williams.
As such, the ergonomic considerations are on show here, thanks to the form-fitting and sock-like nature of the adidas Primeknit upper. The tall collar hugs the ankle, while a wider knit at the instep ensures adequate ventilation. Underfoot, a sculpted polyurethane midsole is reminiscent of adidas’ Feet You Wear series from 25 years ago, and is finished with the Humanrace brand name repeated across the tread.
The Pharrell x adidas Humanrace Sichona ‘Burgundy’ is set to release on September 24 exclusively from the web store, but let's face it, the presence of adidas e-comm shots suggests a wider drop will follow!
Update: adidas will release the Humanrace Sichona 'Burgundy' on their CONFIRMED app on October 10.
