Where to Buy the PUMA Mostro
The PUMA Mostro originally launched back in 1999 and took inspiration from a sprinting spike from the 60s and a surf shoe from the 80s. This unusual mash-up helped it earn its name, as ‘Mostro’ is derived from the Italian word for ‘monster’. It also set it apart from other sneakers at the time, as its experimental design separated it from the sports-geared releases of the era. Instead, it found favour with the fashion crowd, counting the likes of Madonna and Bjork as fans.
Characterised by its low-profile spiked sole and asymmetric velcro fastenings, the convention-defying silhouette was known for its flexibility and comfort, and it quickly went on to become one of PUMA’s bestselling shoes. The 2024 version stays true to the Mostro’s iconic archival design and features mesh uppers, elastic strap closers, lycra liners and a metallic PUMA Formstrip.
Shot by Chris Maggio on the slick streets of New York City, the Mostro is ready to reclaim its stake as one of fashion’s favourite sneakers. Set to drop in two colourways: 'Cool Light Grey' and 'Olive Oil', the Mostro will hit the below retailers from January 13.
