Reebok Conduct Mountain Research on the Beatnik
are continuing their collaborative partnership with Japanese brand Mountain Research by releasing a classy take on the clog-slash-sneaker. This colab is deceptively simple in appearance, but a closer eye reveals intriguing details.
In a reverent nod to some OG editions of the Beatnik, Mountain Research’s version selects deep brown leather. Embellished along the sides of the forefoot is flame embroidery, adding an amusing sense of speed to a model definitely designed to go slow. The plastic hardware loops depict the brand’s mountain silhouette logo in place of the regular Reebok vector. Underfoot, a contrasting rubber ripple sole again pays respect to the Beatnik’s purest form.
‘Reebok’s Beatnik has an eye-catching center seam and functional strap that, in my view, presents a new generation of sandals,’ says Mountain Research founder Setsuma Kobayashi. ‘I am honored to have worked with the Reebok team and have the ability to apply Mountain Research designs to the silhouette.’
The Mountain Research x Reebok Beatnik will release via Mountain Research on September 23, followed by a wider drop on September 27.
