Mil-Spec Colours Meet the Maharishi x Reebok CL Legacy 'Subdued'
Hardy Blechman has been turning ex-military garb into pacifist civilian steez since 1994 with his label, creating iconic garments like the Snopant and writing the definitive camo guidebook DPM: Disruptive Pattern Material. The brand has also added a number of sneaker collaborations to their utility belt, most recently teaming up with .
Fabrics that are organic, durable and technical are maharishi staples, and this close textile study is observed on the current CL Legacy project dubbed 'Subdued'. The olive toe box and side panels use densely woven twill for low weight, while the black trim and toe bumpers are beefed up in ripstop nylon for extra strength. The heavy-duty aesthetic is exemplified by zig-zag over-stitching and chunky foam midsoles joined to gum outsoles.
Bespoke features include the brand name stamped on the lateral eyestay strip, hiking-style rope laces and suede tongue overlays that won’t be found on run-of-the-mill CLs. The colab is packaged up in Reebok’s premium blacked-out gloss-on-matt shoebox.
'The Classic Leather Legacy AZ looks futurist and modern whilst retaining what makes it an iconic shoe,' says Maharishi. 'A big part of our design ethos is exploring duality, so this shoe - being a design classic infused with ultra-modern sensibility - fits well.'
The Maharishi x Reebok CL Legacy will be available from maharishi on June 10, followed by a wider release on June 17. There will also be a launch party on June 9 at maharishi's New York outpost – check the flyer below for the deets.
