What if Dee Brown Had His Own Reebok Pump Omni Zone 2 Celtics Player Exclusive?
are continuing their revival of the accurately restored Omni Zone 2 by reimagining the early 1990s context in which it was worn by star player Dee Brown. The 1991 NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner rocked the black, white and orange colourway of the inflatable basketball shoes while playing for the Boston Celtics, but this colourway presents the idea of a Player Exclusive colourway, nicknamed the ‘Parquet Court’ after the unique timber flooring of the team’s home court.
There’s not much that needs to be done to turn this OG colourway into a Celtics themed pair. Reebok have simply added verdant green inserts along the plastic lace straps, upper tongue section around the basketball shaped Pump button, ankle collar, lining, and outsole tread.
Where the nickname becomes clear is on the insoles of these Pump Omni Zone 2s, which are treated with a graphic of the namesake parquet timber court. It’s a subtle and tasteful nod to the inspiration behind the shoe, and makes sense as PE as it would have bespoke features. The remainder of the shoe is OG spec, down to the Hexalite cushioning and ribbed lining.
The Pump Omni Zone 2 ‘Parquet Court’ will be available from Reebok on April 15.
