Release Date: The Air Jordan 1 KO ‘Chicago’ 2021
appears to be tapering down on the colourways in 2021, but fans of the legendary sneaker can still rejoice in the return of the popular KO version. After were revealed at the back end of last year, excitement for the comeback started to build some strong momentum. Now, months later, we finally have an official release date for the popular colourway... and it's not too far away!
Originally released in 1986 alongside the more storied High and Low version of the AJ1, the backstory of the KO is somewhat controversial. Many claim the ‘KO’ actually stands for ‘knock-off’ – a representation of the silhouette’s less premium construction and materials – and the traditional canvas upper base and chunkier styling certainly lends itself to that label. That said, this ‘Chicago’ colourway is sure to be a popular drop, with its signature white, black, and ‘University Red’ scheme. A white canvas base is supported with red overlays, while the black leather Swooshes and ankle collar deliver the offsetting darker tone. Additionally, you can expect the familiar ‘AJKO’ branding on the Wings logo, with a white midsole atop a red rubber outsole down below.
The 2021 iteration of the Air Jordan 1 KO ‘Chicago’ releases on May 12 at select retailers and via Nike.
