Release Date: The Air Jordan 1 Low OG ‘Shattered Backboard’
After a couple of snuck through over the last week or so, we now have official pics and a release date for the ‘Shattered Backboard’. The colour scheme takes cues from the Stefanel Trieste uniform that was playing in during a exhibition game in 1985 when he famously shattered the backboard with a rattling dunk.
The ‘Shattered Backboard’ combo has become one of the more coveted colourways on the roster, and has seen its fair share of renditions over the years – including last year’s slightly contentious ‘Shattered Backboard 3.0’ with textured patent leather. And now it’s about to hit the low-cut silhouette of MJ’s first signature model.
Despite the popular ‘Shattered Backboard’ colourway rocking the orange, black and white, Jordan actually shattered that backboard in 1985 while wearing an OG pair of the AJ1 ‘Chicago’. And that exact sneaker recently sold for a total of $500,000 in a collaborative auction with Stadium Goods and Christie’s – complete with real glass from the backboard still lodged in its sole.
Pairs of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG ‘Shattered Backboard’ will land on August 26 – minus the glass fragments. Head to Nike and select Jordan Brand stockists on that date to secure you pair.
