Release Details: Off-White x Nike Rubber Dunk ‘University Blue’
Originally revealed in May, the x ‘University Blue’ is scheduled to drop next month. A completely original silhouette by Virgil Abloh’s all-conquering Off-White label, the Nike Rubber Dunk is ostensibly a mashup between the on-trend Nike SB Dunk and the cult favourite P-6000 sneaker.
The arbiter of sneaker style since his debut of ‘The Ten’ collection, Virgil continues to power his own unique aesthetic with the Rubber Dunk. Initially teased during New York Fashion Week in February, the Rubber Dunk is slated to arrive in three colourways come October.
Paying homage to the revered ‘UNC’ colourway, the ‘University Blue’ Rubber Dunk brings in elements of skate, basketball and lifestyle to illuminate a complex design with a diverse material blend. A metallic silver leather cage wraps the design, while a mesh base adds further depth.
Rubber accents hit the toe box and vamp, while a gum sole gives the sneaker a vintage vibe. Of course, Abloh’s signature Helvetica text hits the medial side, the design language further extended by the orange zip-ties.
Take a closer look at the Off-White x Nike Air Rubber Dunk ‘University Blue’ and keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker ahead of the October 1 release. The retail price is set as $180.
