Release Info: Concepts x ASICS GEL-Lyte III 'Otoro' in Full Detail
and perennial collaborative partners have linked up to create a delicacy dubbed the 'Otoro', named after the Japanese word for the fattiest (and tastiest) part of a bluefin tuna. Joining the Boston boutique's 25th anniversary celebrations, the project takes inspiration from the Japanese sushi staple, restaurant culture, and an originator of consumer hype: the Michelin Guide.
'Our relationship with ASICS has allowed some of our most unique storylines. With "Otoro", we're able to relay an amazing story and do so with utmost attention to material and execution,' says Deon Point, Concepts' Creative Director.
Having graduated from ASICS' performance lineup to become a staple of their lifestyle lineup, the GEL-Lyte III can luxuriate in softer fabrications. And that's exactly what Concepts have done here, swaddling the split-tongued silhouette in pigskin suede. The tonal upper employs a pink gradation – rich like the finest sashimi-grade, and just as premo. The piscine inspiration continues on the inner soles, where Japanese illustrations depict the namesake fish and crashing waves.
Elsewhere, co-branded touches celebrate the link-up: Concepts branding sits at the heel and on the custom footbeds.
The Concepts x ASICS GEL-Lyte III 'Otoro', and complementary 'Four Days' apparel collection, drop on June 11 via Concepts, and via Concepts Boston, Concepts NYC and Concepts Dubai.
