Release Update: The Social Status x Nike Dunk 'Strawberry Milk'
have announced a new release date for their 'Strawberry Milk' collaboration with . Serving as one half of the collection alongside the previously-released 'Chocolate Milk' colourway, the 'Strawberry Milk' may present a playful color palette and whimsical materials, but it tells a deeply personal story.
That personal story belongs to James Whitner, founder and owner of The Whitaker Grp. Though The Whitaker Grp operates Social Status, , Prosper and APB, Whitaker wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth: he grew up in Pittsburgh's rough-and-tumble Whitaker Projects, often receiving free lunches – hence the collection's name. However, Whitaker often speaks of the 'beauty in the struggle' from his upbringing. The 'Strawberry Milk,' with its vivid light pink, clay red and blue upper, soft satin pieces, crinkled tongue label and special milk-splashed Swoosh is a physical representation of his childhood. Social Status' storytelling doesn't stop with the shoe itself, as the 'Strawberry Milk' comes packaged in a special milk carton-inspired box and is wrapped in 'lunch menu' tissue paper.
The Social Status x Nike Dunk 'Strawberry Milk' is set to release in adult, preschool and toddler sizes October 15 at 11 AM EST on the Social Status webstore. All local raffle entries from past raffles at Social Status boutiques remain valid as well. Adult pairs are priced at $130, preschool pairs at $80 and toddler pairs at $70.
