Restock Alert: The Yeezy Desert Boot ‘Rock’ and ‘Oil’
Looking back, the earliest seasons of the footwear and apparel line from the late-2010s certainly veered into ‘desertcore’ territory, with an abundance of sandy shades and quasi-military aesthetics. In the mix was the , which bears little resemblance to its more historically significant namesake. However, both are somewhat spiritually entwined by the aforementioned military intention – anecdotal Internet commentary reveals pundits attempting to pass off the Yeezy pairs with their standard issue uniforms. Whether it’s to flex on the street or get through boot camp, the ‘Oil’ and ‘Rock’ colourways will be restocking later this year.
The Yeezy Desert Boot is one of the more premium offerings in the range, with its higher cut and sturdy materials. A mixture of suede and nubuck keeps things supple, while generously-sized mesh inserts are added along the ankle, midfoot and tongue for plenty of ventilation. This sits atop a chunky foam midsole, which wraps into a heightened mudguard, and a slightly rippled outsole. These features could probably hold up to the rigours of an actual desert expedition if need be – but it’s likely the only trekking these boots will experience is through the wild terrain that is Instagram.
It’ll be a while yet before these Yeezy Desert Boots drop: the ‘Rock’ won’t land until September 1, and the ‘Oil’ arrives much later on November 1.
