RTFKT Will Drop Their Nike Dunk Genesis On SNKRS

Despite the rocky days ahead for the NFT market, Nike have been forging ahead with their RTFKT project and are bringing it to the physical world. Hot from their ComplexCon 2023 pre-sale, physical iterations of their ‘Dunk Genesis’ colab in ‘VOID’ and ‘GHOST’ colourways will be available for the public very soon.

Founded in 2020, RTFKT are a virtual sneaker studio who raised eyebrows in the metaverse over their custom digital sneaker designs and collectible avatars. Their blockchain creations drew in hundreds of millions in profits, leading to Nike acquiring the NFT house in late 2021.

In April 2022, the merger was announced with the NFT pair ‘Dunk Genesis.’ Now, the CRYPTOKICKS have morphed from digital to actual. These aren’t the first pair of the RTFKT x Nike team-up to transform into real-life kicks, as many of the concoctions have gotten the transformation treatment.

The Dunk Genesis was recently launched as part of the duo’s ‘Forging Event’. During this time, holders of eligible digital collectibles could redeem their tokens for limited made-to-demand physical copies of the kicks. The event has finished, culminating in a pre-sale for token holders at ComplexCon 2023, but it’s been announced the public will be able to get their hands on them on November 20.

The prototype silhouette displays a bulky sole unit with sleek electronic accents, including a glowing neon Swoosh and RTFKT logos. The sneakers are made to order and are due to start shipping in June 2024.

The ‘VOID’ and ‘GHOST’ colourways will see a public release on November 20 at both 11am EST and 8pm EST on shop.rtfkt.com.
