SE Bikes Cycle Vans Style 36 Colab
might be originally associated with the easygoing surf and skate culture of California, but they concurrently found pedal power when they became the go-to sneaker for BMX bandits. As such, the latest collaboration between Vans and SE Bikes was meant to be.
SE Bikes’ history exists on the same timeline as that of Vans, having been early evangelists of BMX bicycles and racing back in the 1970s, while Vans were serving fresh waffle-soled sneakers throughout SoCal. The is the precursor to the Old Skool, and this 36 trio bears many distinct SE marks.
Each colourway – white, red and aqua, and black – corresponds to three of SE Bike’s signature frame models, the Blocks Flyer, Big Ripper, and PK Ripper. It’s hard to miss, as these names are boldly printed across the midsole walls, and are complemented by SE’s wing logo and subtle reflective checkerboard prints on the Jazz stripe. Of course, the rest of this colab is finished in the typically sturdy Vans build, including leather, suede and canvas uppers, plus the iconic waffle pattern rubber soles, which will definitely survive a few foot jams.
The SE Bikes x Vans Style 36s will begin hitting select retailers from April. Some co-branded apparel and accessories will be releasing alongside the trio.
