Slow Steady Club Supply Two Almost-Perfect New Balance 990v5 Colabs
South Korean retailer Slow Steady Club and are continuing their HOTEL990 project with two almost-perfect takes on the . Spotlighted by a clever marketing tagline that's simultaneously courteous and braggadocious, each style features an elegant colour scheme and an elevated MADE in USA construction.
HOTEL990 is an between Slow Steady Club and New Balance that's been running since 2017 and is centred around the concept of a fictional hotel. The brown pair is a direct continuation of that lineage, thanks to an upper that combines signature grey mesh with soft brown pigskin suede. An orange heel clip provides a pop of bright flair and a duo of secondary brown shades add more contrast. The second pair uses white, bone and beige for a low-key look that's supposedly inspired by paper. Both pairs are completed by a black Slow Steady Club logo that's stamped on the lateral side of the heel.
It's interesting that the 990v5 was used this late in its product cycle as the 990v6 is set to debut this spring. However, that means that it'll continue to be a key piece of the 99X line's storytelling going forward – just like the OG 990, V2, V3 and V4 are!
Look for both styles from the Slow Steady Club x New Balance 990v5 collection to hit Slow Steady Club and New Balance's Korean webstore on March 25. At the time of writing, a global release has not been announced.
