Sneaker Politics and adidas Consortium's EQT Prototype Collab Celebrates the 1984 World's Fair
and have come together for an EQT Prototype sneaker that celebrates a special piece of New Orleans heritage – the 1984 World's Fair. The co-created design draws its inspiration from a very specific piece of the '84 fair as well: Seymore D. Fair, the event's mascot.
Seymore was a large white pelican in a blue suit who greeted visitors from all over the world, so the shoe pays homage to his two-toned blue garb and classic New Orleans charm with a light blue mesh upper and semi-translucent blue midfoot overlays. Shaggy suede appears on the collar, mudguard and heels, while the laces take on a fuzzy white material as a clever nod to Seymore's feathers. Heel branding and outsoles alike complete the look with dashes of yellow, nodding to Seymore's sizable beak. It's safe to say that this drop is much more colorful than the last Politics x drop, a no-frills that released via giveaway in September 2020.
There's a charitable aspect at play with this release as well. Sneaker Politics will donate a portion of the proceeds from every sale to Seymore’s Foundation, a 'non-profit organization dedicated to supporting learning institutions, health organizations, law enforcement, and communities in their efforts to educate and protect the preadolescent student population from the dangers of alcohol, tobacco, and drug use.'
Expect the Sneaker Politics x adidas Consortium EQT Prototype '84 World's Fair' to release at all Politics locations and online come October 9.
