SNS Join Forces with adidas for the Superstar ‘Kinenbi’
Regular collaborative partners and have joined forces for a ‘Kinenbi’ that’s loaded with special details. The most notable of those unique additions has to the two large floral badges that can be attached to the sides of each shoe, the uppers decked-out in the soft and fluffy end of Velcro for both aesthetic and practical purposes. Two smaller badges emblazoned with ‘KINENBI’ and ‘SNS KZK’ offer further customisation options, while dual branding lands on the heel tabs, tongues, and lateral side.
Just like the Stan Smith did for tennis, the Superstar revolutionised basketball footwear in the 1970s, as the low-top leather build surpassed the canvas high-tops that had dominated the hardwood up until that point in time. As with many legendary silhouettes, the Superstar gradually evolved beyond the hardwood, most notably within the hip hop scene that co-opted the silhouette in the mid-1980s. Hitting the street sans laces, and with a tracksuit to match, the Superstar took on a whole new meaning to the next generation. You may not see many sneakerheads rocking laceless Superstars these days, but the shell-toed classic hasn’t gone anywhere – just ask the likes of Nigo, Pharrell, Palace, Hender Scheme, Jason Dill, and Anthony Van Engelen.
Specific release details for the SNS x adidas Superstar ‘Kinenbi’ are unclear at this point, but whispers suggest it will drop in the opening months of 2021.
