‘Solar Red’ Scorches the adidas UltraBOOST DNA 5.0
The original phenotype of the is definitively the most popular iteration of the runner-turned-casual king. Within the core UB design is actually five subtle variants, each with minor tweaks to elements in the upper, expressed chiefly by different Primeknit weaves. And while sub-factions already exist within the Team Cozy ranks, one common thread ties all of these UB fans together: ‘Solar Red’. A principle colourway of the model since its 2015 inception, the highlighter shade has now found its way onto version 5.0.
These UBs would have gone gangbusters had they released a couple of years ago, because they contain all the hallmarks of a hyped colourway from the height of the aforementioned Team Cozy era. For one, blacked out BOOST midsoles were once practically almost being petitioned for by fans – here it is in readily available GR form. While ‘Solar Red’ is a relic of mid-2010s colourways that were loud and proud, which is indelibly mixed into the UB canon – and its Primeknit uppers that now include eco-conscious Primeblue recycled fibres. Tonal TPU lace cages only up the ante of the fluorescent shade.
