Solebox and adidas Consortium's EQT Prototype Takes to the Racetrack
are celebrating the 30th anniversary of in 2021, so the brand's arm has been tapping collaborative partners across the globe to aid in the festivities. Recently, created an EQT Prototype , and now Solebox is getting in on the action – crafting their own take on the silhouette that's inspired by racing suits and limited to a scant 300 pairs. This inspiration actually nods to the EQT Prototype's genesis: it was originally an unreleased sample that was supposed to be called the 'EQT Racer.'
From a build standpoint, the shoe uses a thin TPE for a see-through upper, then bolsters it with wavy TPU overlays, intentionally yellowed to show the shoe's 'age.' Other special embellishments include racing-ready pops of red and black, co-branded detailing on the heel and a Consortium graphic on the tongue.
Taking the inspiration a step farther the shoes come packaged in a see-through box, just like the one that would accompany a model car. 30 customers will be even luckier, as they'll take home a die-cast model of a Porsche with their shoes, free of charge.
Look for the adidas Consortium x Solebox EQT Prototype to release via Solebox on October 23. The MSRP is set at €140.
